Players then continue in this fashion, creating and producing resources and building larger structures to help the town function (eg bakeries, feed mills, dairy factories, etc). When players collect these items, they are shown a ‘Level Up’ pop-up screen indicating their rewards (in the form of gold coins and green notes). The process of feeding the cows can take 20 minutes for milk to be produced, or this can occur immediately by spending green notes of in-game currency. Players are then given an overhead view of a large farming area, and are shown how to sow the wheat and feed the cows by a character named Ernie. It describes that Township has its own resources, helicopter pad, railway station, etc. Players are firstly given a brief tutorial with text describing that it is the player’s ‘first day taking care of Township’. Players must then sign in via their gmail/Google+ account. If the player denies access, the app automatically closes. To play this game, players are requested to allow Township to access photos, media and files on their device. The skills required to play the app include problem solving and fine motor skills. The objective is to select buildings and structures, harvest resources and further develop the town so that the population grows.
